The brief for the Patio BBQ was straight forward, it had to be in two sections, it had to be heavy duty (5mm plate steel) and had to be compact as it was to be situated on a decked patio area. The grill had to allow access to the coals without having to remove the food from the grill. Adjustable rubber feet had to be included to prevent damage to the wood floor and to allow any 'wobble' to be adjusted out.
The BBQ was constructed from an old compressor cylinder that had seen better days and the majority of the other components were re-purposed materials. Construction required a significant amount of cutting, shaping and hammering to achieve the desired results.
This unit is very strong, extremely heavy-duty and will last a very long time. Click on the photos for a closer look.
